Emma’s Energy Journey
Finding Peace and Rebuilding Energy While Living with Fibromyalgia

Starting Point
When Emma first reached out to Suzanne at Reconnecting You, she was in one of the lowest periods of her life.

Diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2010, her health had gradually declined year after year. By the time she discovered Suzanne’s work, both her physical health and mental wellbeing had reached a difficult place.

“A year ago I was mentally in a really bad place,” Emma explains.
“My health was really getting me down. I wasn’t able to do much at all and I didn’t feel like life could continue the way it was.”

Emma had already explored many different therapies in search of improvement.

“I’d tried just about everything over the years. My husband always said if something could improve my health even by five percent, it was worth trying.”

Having experienced kinesiology before and found it helpful, Emma initially approached Suzanne looking for kinesiology sessions. But she quickly realised Suzanne’s work offered something more comprehensive.

“When I contacted Suzanne, I realised she did a lot more than kinesiology. Looking back, she probably should have been my first stop rather than my last chance.”
Discovering a Different Perspective
Emma’s first step was completing a Health Profile Review, which helped her look at her situation in a new way.

“What surprised me from the beginning was how positive the whole process felt,” she says. “Even when we were looking at difficult things, it still felt constructive.”

Until that point, Emma felt as though life had completely stopped. The review helped her recognise something she hadn’t seen before.

“I realised I wasn’t doing nothing every day like my brain was telling me. Life wasn’t where it used to be, but I wasn’t as stuck as I believed.”

Seeing that she was already making progress gave Emma the motivation to continue.
Committing to the Process
(Kinesiology Sessions combined with Wellbeing Coaching Sessions)
Although Emma’s energy fluctuated, she committed fully to the sessions.

“There were days when I didn’t want to get out of bed and considered cancelling. But once the sessions started, the time always went so quickly.”

Suzanne always reassured Emma that sessions could be shortened if needed, but in practice she rarely needed to do that.

“Once we got started, I always felt glad I’d shown up.”

The combination of kinesiology sessions and structured coaching helped Emma gradually work through both the physical and emotional layers of her condition.

“It’s hard work. Things don’t just magically change. But each session felt like another step forward.”
Finding Peace with the Past
One of Emma’s biggest breakthroughs came from recognising the emotional impact of her diagnosis.

“I realised how traumatic just being diagnosed had been. When you’re told there’s nothing you can do and you just have to manage it, that’s a huge thing to carry.”

Working through those deeper layers helped Emma reach a place she never expected.

“People talk about finding peace and you wonder if that will ever happen for you. I think I’ve found that peace now — with my health and with a lot of things from my past.”
A New Relationship with Her Body
Emma still experiences symptoms from fibromyalgia, but the way she responds to them has changed significantly.

“Yes, I still have pain and certain symptoms, but they don’t consume me anymore.”

Learning to respond differently to her body became one of the biggest shifts.

“As a yoga teacher I thought I was listening to my body, but I was still beating myself up about the pain.”

Now her approach is very different.

“If I have a ‘wobbly day’, I accept it. I don’t call it a bad day anymore.”
True rest became possible for the first time in years.
“I used to think I was resting, but mentally I wasn’t getting proper rest. Now if my body needs a rest day, I allow it.”
Looking Forward Again
Perhaps the biggest change has been Emma’s outlook on life.

“For the first time in ten years, I’m actually looking forward to the future. I’m no longer fearful or anxious.”

Her husband has noticed the change too.

“He says he can see that I can have fun again.”

Emma also found the coaching element different from therapies she had tried previously.

“I’d done a lot of talking before but often felt stuck. Coaching is different — it’s a really positive process that helps you move forward.”

Working remotely made the process accessible when her energy was low.

“If I’d had to travel to sessions, I would have struggled. Being able to work remotely made a huge difference.”

Trusting the Process
Emma understands why many people with chronic fatigue or fibromyalgia feel cautious about trying something new.

“We’ve often had promises made to us that don’t lead anywhere.”

Her advice is simple:

“Go in with an open mind and trust the process. Some weeks might feel challenging, but those are often the weeks that matter most.”

For Emma, the results have been profound.

“The whole process has been life-changing. It’s not just about coping with fibromyalgia — it’s about learning how to live again.”
