Week 4 and 5
3rd and 10th November
How do values and beliefs link to chronic fatigue?
Our values and beliefs underpin who we are. They guide our thoughts and our actions and in turn impact on our emotions. In short, our values and beliefs make us the people we are.
Yet how much time have you spent considering what your values and beliefs actually are? Are your values even yours? Do the beliefs you hold now sit comfortably with who you are now?
Most of our values and beliefs are taken on board in childhood, shared with us by the people who are most influential in our lives. As adults, we tend to continue to act and think based on those same values and beliefs. But sometimes, they do not tie up with the person we are now.
Have you ever considered that your values and beliefs may be keeping you stuck or in repeating patterns of behaviour that you just cannot seem to break? Your constantly circling thoughts and repeated actions can drain away your energy and leave you feeling confused, frustrated and depleted.
Experience of supporting people in recovery from ME/CFS and Fibromyalgia has shown me that the values and beliefs we hold can contribute to making our chronic fatigue conditions worse.
Think of it as subconscious self-sabotage. Your pre-programmed thoughts or actions which stem from outdated values and beliefs are interfering with what you consciously want to achieve.
How does this help my recovery from ME/CFS or Fibromyalgia?
By digging into your values and beliefs you can join the dots around why you think and do the things you do.
Gaining this understanding can literally be life changing. It allows you to make small adjustments that have a big impact on your health and wellbeing so that you can start to get your life back.
What does the Course involve?
This online course is designed to uncover how your thoughts, actions, beliefs and values are contributing to your ME/CFS or Fibromyalgia and then work out what small changes you can make so that your overall health and wellbeing improves.
Over 5 weeks you will take part in 4 group sessions via Zoom and have a 1-1 hour long session with me. All materials will be sent out to you before we start, along with a journal to capture your thoughts as we work together through the course.
The course will run live online over 5 weeks from Tuesday 13 October 2020.
Weeks 1 & 2: Tuesday 13 and 20 October 6.30pm-8.30pm Group sessions where all participants will be working together to explore and understand core values and key beliefs and how these relate to behaviours that exacerbate fatigue conditions.
Week 3: 1-1 Sessions You will have a 1:1 online session with me where we work with a your key limiting belief so that it becomes a powerful force to live the life that you want. As this is half term week, the 1-1 appointments will be booked around any holiday or child care commitments.
Weeks 4 & 5: Tuesday 3 and 10 November 6.30pm-8.30pm Group sessions where we will focus on the small changes that you can put in place to begin to improve your physical health.
And how will you know if it's working?
For any activity where you invest your time, energy and money, it's really important to be able to assess whether or not it has been beneficial to you. This 5 week course is no different. You will be invited to complete Symptoms Impact Questionnaires at the start and end of the course.
The questionnaire has been designed specifically for quantifying the impact chronic fatigue has on every day life. By establishing a starting point and checking in again at the end, you will be able to track any changes as a result of your participation in the course.
There is another, less measureable way, of checking progress that relies on your own intuitive sense of rightness. This course addresses values and beliefs - these are deeply personal, intangible aspects of ourselves. Your connection to yourself and awareness of how you are feeling will be your guide to the suceess of your 5 weeks of discovery. You will simply feel the benefit of understanding your values, your beliefs and yourself.
Places will be limited to 10 people so please get in touch now to secure yours.
Working on values and beliefs is powerful. I know that it makes a huge difference when I work one to one with my clients. I also know from feedback received from previous courses that it's the kind of work that brings about a turning point that allows the recovery journey to begin. It is possible to live the life you want live, rather than simply existing.
Since this course is focused on supporting people who have M.E/CFS or Fibromyalgia, you may be concerned about whether you will be well enough to join in and/or concentrate.
To reassure you, the following will be in place:
Each session will be recorded so that you can re-visit it if you need to
You will be with like-minded people who understand (from their own experiences) what you are going through and will be supportive
You won’t be asked to do any more than you are comfortable with, so there’s no need to worry about over-exerting yourself.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to join my closed Facebook group where you will be able to stay in touch and continue to receive support and encouragement as you move towards recovery..
What my clients have said about the work we do together:
"I am making changes, really small ones but she helped me to recognise that, over time, it doesn’t matter that they’re only tiny, they are still changes."
"Through the work that I have done with Suzanne, my thought process was now come on. Suzanne has made a massive difference."
